TABLE OF CONTENTS: What is DevOps? Automation: Scaling: Infrastructure: Why is DevOps important?

Hello all, I have started the #90DaysOfDevOps challenge initiated by Shubham Londhe Sir.

Now, you might be wondering, why a 90-day challenge? Well, the journey to becoming proficient in DevOps requires dedication, continuous learning, and hands-on practice. The 90-day timeframe allows for a focused and structured approach to learning the essential concepts, and tools.

In this series of blog posts, I aim to share my learning process, resources, tips, and real-world examples that will help you on your own DevOps learning journey with me.

In this introductory post, let's set the stage for our adventure and understand what DevOps is all about In this blog, we'll dive into the below topics.

  1. What is DevOps?

πŸ› οΈπŸ”„πŸ” DevOps is a set of practices that combine πŸ€– automation and βš™οΈ scaling to efficiently manage and optimize πŸ—οΈ infrastructure. It emphasizes collaboration between development and operations teams to enable continuous integration and delivery, enabling faster πŸš€ software development and reliable deployment.

  2. Automation:

πŸ€–πŸ” Automation in DevOps is like having a 🀝 helping robot that does repetitive tasks automatically. It saves time ⏰ and reduces errors, letting teams focus on more important things!

  3. Scaling:

Process of increasing size, capacity, and performance to accommodate greater workload or demand. Ensures whether the system can handle an increased number of users or any other kind of load without affecting the performance.

  4. Infrastructure:

πŸ—οΈπŸ› οΈ Infrastructure in DevOps is like the foundation of a 🏒 building. It's the solid base that supports everything. DevOps ensures this foundation is strong, flexible, and can be quickly adjusted as needed.

Its infrastructure is made of hardware and software, eg- If a company wants to host a website of its own, it must buy a server, and make cooling arrangements for it and if it is not available due to some failure, the website won’t be available despite of everything. So, hosting something on-prem has its hardships.

But now, Cloud technologies have made everything easy. You can manage infrastructure from anywhere, with the least downtime and at a low cost without setting up a physical server with the help of various cloud providers like AWS, GCP and Azure.

  5. Why is DevOps important?

πŸš€ Faster Delivery: DevOps speeds up the πŸ“¦ delivery of software, getting new features and updates to users quickly.

🀝 Collaboration: It encourages better teamwork between πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» development and πŸ› οΈ operations, breaking down silos and improving communication.

πŸ” Continuous Integration: DevOps allows for seamless merging of code changes, reducing conflicts and catching bugs early.

πŸ”§ Automation: Automation (πŸ€–) cuts down manual work, making processes efficient and consistent while minimizing errors.

πŸ“ˆ Scalability: DevOps helps applications and infrastructure to scale smoothly as user demand grows (βš™οΈ).

πŸ›‘οΈ Reliability: It improves system stability, reducing downtime and providing a better user experience.

πŸ”’ Security: DevOps integrates security practices (πŸ”) throughout the development process, ensuring safer software.

πŸ” Visibility: It offers greater visibility into the development and deployment processes, making it easier to track progress and identify issues.

πŸ‘₯ Customer Satisfaction: With faster updates and fewer disruptions, users are happier with the product (πŸ˜„).

πŸ’° Cost-Efficiency: By reducing manual effort and downtime, DevOps ultimately saves on operational costs.
